How We Work

Five stages, from first screen to exit.

Every opportunity moves through the same disciplined sequence. Submission does not guarantee acceptance at any stage.

01 / Screen

Screen

Review ownership, site basics, access, utilities, current use, zoning context, market setting, objectives, and timing. This stage determines whether an opportunity merits further review.

02 / Assess

Assess

Define the open questions, information gaps, professional studies required, a preliminary budget, key risks, and potential paths forward.

03 / Structure

Structure

Establish the project strategy, roles, contracts, schedule, budget, decision points, financing path, and exit strategy before execution begins.

04 / Coordinate

Coordinate

Manage the approved team, workstreams, information flow, budget, schedule, risks, decisions, and stakeholder communication through execution.

05 / Execute & Exit

Execute & Exit

Advance the project toward approvals, construction, transfer, operation, disposition, takedown, or another approved outcome.

A Note on Acceptance

Submission is a starting point, not a commitment.

Submitting an opportunity begins a screening process — it does not guarantee that Valence will accept or pursue it. Valence may decline opportunities that lack ownership clarity, realistic pricing, access, utility feasibility, market support, adequate time, compliant capital, or an executable path.

Where an opportunity is declined, the reasons are typically identifiable at the screening or assessment stage, which is why those early stages matter as much as execution.

Operating Principles

The standards that hold across every stage.

  • Evidence FirstDecisions follow evidence before enthusiasm.
  • Clear RolesClear roles and written scopes for every party.
  • DisciplineDisciplined budgets and schedules, tracked and reported.
  • Early Risk IDMaterial risks identified early, not discovered late.
  • Qualified ProfessionalsRegulated work performed by qualified, licensed professionals.
  • AlignmentAlignment among stakeholders before execution begins.
  • Clear ExitsClear decision points and exit paths defined in advance.
